Become a Pillar and Serve!

Just as pillars are strategically placed in buildings in order to provide stability and support, so our volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the ministry that happens here.

As part of the application process, we would like for you to review and reflect on Antioch's six core practices. As a community, we are all in the act of becoming more like Jesus, and to aid in our transformation, we have honed in on six core practices that we are working towards as a family. We ask every volunteer to review and consider making these practices a part of their life. We are not expecting anyone to do this perfectly or completely all the time, but as Pillars of this house, we do want to have a common understanding of what it means to apprentice to Jesus and become more like Him. You can learn more about this at an Ownership Class, which are held bi-annually.

Once you submit this form, one of our leaders will reach out to you. If you have any questions, email info@antiochfc.org.

Please read the following practices

Because Pillars are such an integral part of our community, we hope that each person who serves consistently would become an Owner of Antioch. An Owner is someone who partners and participates with Antioch Fort Collins' beliefs, vision, and practices.

Beliefs: You can review our statement of beliefs on our website
Vision: To become a community that apprentices to Jesus, which looks like being with Jesus, being like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did, because as we order ourselves around Jesus, our lives and our city will be transformed.

Core Practices:
  1. Abide | John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

“Abide” simply means to stay or remain. This is a daily, ongoing rhythm of actively choosing to stay in God’s presence by spending time in relationship with him–especially through prayer, reading his word, and worship. It’s because of our time with God that we are sustained for our days and bear his fruit.

  1. Rest | Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

We rest as an act of trust and celebration: we pause in the busyness of life, trusting that God will provide, and we celebrate his generosity, goodness, and presence. When we rest, we are taking time to stop, worship, rest, and delight.

  1. Community | Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

We choose to press into community–to rejoice together, mourn together, and commit to growing together even when there’s conflict. We are made for relationships, and in Jesus-centered relationships, we are individually sharpened, purified, and refined to look more like Jesus.

  1. Generosity | 1 John 3:17-18 "But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."

We are courageously generous with what we have, recognizing that it all was first given to us. This is intentionally choosing to give of our time, talents, and money for the sake of others. Our generosity is a sacrifice but also an investment in the Kingdom of God.

  1. Discipleship | Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Discipleship is Jesus-focused, Gospel-centered relationships for the purpose of training, growth, and obedience to God. It is an invitation to walk out the Gospel with the support of others, whether in one-on-one relationships or in groups of three.

  1. Justice | Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

We seek kingdom justice in our lives and communities. This isn’t the same as how the world defines justice because they want “the Kingdom without the King.” In doing justice, we partner with Jesus to step into the brokenness of the world as ambassadors of God’s kingdom.
