As a tandum to Noah’s post about a worker needed to help install medical gas and oxygen piping at a hospital in Ethiopia, we could also use someone who enjoys kids and loves Jesus to come with us and help with our kids for three weeks in the middle of November. (There is the possibility the trip would coincide with Thanksgiving, so keep that in mind).

The goal would be for me (Abigail) to help Noah with the work and have someone be with our children to help with homework/remote schooling, hanging out, a couple snacks/meal and general supervision.

There are some funds available to help compensate a little for the person’s time away from work if needed. All expenses to get there would be paid. Must have current passport, and we can assist with getting the required visa. It is highly recommended to get the covid vaccine at least 30 days prior to travel, as we will be flying through Europe to get there and most countries in Europe currently require the covid vaccine to enter. Yellow fever vaccine would also be a requirement, and we can help get the appointment since this is not a common vaccine.

The Soddo Christian Hospital is on a walled compound in a relatively safe area of the country, with a playground, gardens and paths between the buildings, a guesthouse and family housing for the ex-pat doctors who live and work there. In addition to helping with our kids, there would also be opportunity to pray with patients in the hospital wards, which in my own experience has been very powerful.

As Africa goes, SCH is actually pretty nice. Weather in Soddo may be rainy or fair but usually warm, not hot. The food is good but best to be prepared for some minor stomach illness which is common when adjusting to African cuisine and environment.

If you might be interested please let me or Noah know. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider an African adventure with us!
