It's crucial to grasp that human trafficking isn't just a distant issue —it happens right here in Colorado.
Challenges we're facing in Northern Colorado
Human trafficking laws
It's tough to hear, but Colorado ranks among the states with the weakest human trafficking laws. This reality highlights a serious need for change and greater awareness within our communities.
A lack of resources
One of the biggest obstacles we face is the lack of available resources. We simply don’t have enough comprehensive statistics or detailed information about how prevalent human trafficking is in our state. This makes it really tough for law enforcement and local organizations to effectively tackle the problem.
Geographic placement
Adding to the complexity, Colorado has one of the largest highway intersections in the country and a major international airport. These transportation hubs can unfortunately make it easier for traffickers to operate, putting vulnerable individuals at greater risk.
